Ellen’s practice focuses on probate, trust administration, probate litigation, and guardianship and conservatorship matters. Ellen has represented trustees, personal representatives, beneficiaries, and other interested parties in a wide range of probate and trust matters. She has also worked as a trustee, giving her insight into the responsibilities and difficult decisions faced by fiduciaries.
She brings a thoughtful approach to solving complex legal problems, helping clients reach practical and creative settlement solutions both in and outside of the courtroom – including negotiated beneficiary agreements, trust reformation, and other resolutions intended to carry out a decedent’s intent while reducing conflict among family members. Her work ranges from both routine trust and estate administration, to contested probate and trust matters.
Ellen’s interest in this work is also personal. Growing up with a younger brother who unexpectedly developed significant disabilities, she has seen firsthand the importance of prior planning for death and incapacity, as well as the need for flexibility and adaptability in the face of life’s uncertainty.
Ellen earned her B.A in English and Philosophy from the University of Colorado Boulder before attending University of Denver Sturm College of Law on a full merit scholarship.
Outside of work, Ellen enjoys running and exploring Denver’s local shops with her husband and their Samoyed, Hyperion.
